Bible stuff

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

This verse is called the great commission. Jesus plainly told His first disciples to make more disciples. That they were to teach the new disciples everything Jesus had taught them. So each new generation would show the heart of God and the power of God to the earth.

One of the things Jesus taught those first disciples was to minister healing to the sick. Jesus showed them healing and sent them to do healing.

He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

Matthew 10:1 (NIV)

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’”

Luke 10:1-9 (NIV)

It is our desire to follow Jesus in all that He taught. Therefore we actively pray for the sick with expectation of God’s power to heal. We believe God can heal every sickness, He can restore damaged nerves, strengthen crippled limbs and relieve chronic pain. We believe these things because Jesus did these things while He was here. Jesus trained His followers to do the same things. We in turn want to continue the ministry of Jesus.
